We are coming off of another wonderful time together at the National Gathering i...
Over the past few years, you have seen glimpses of ECO’s growing relationships with churches and leaders around the world. We have shared some of these stories in our newsletters and at the National Gathering. Behind each one is a relationship the Lord has been developing, sometimes over many years.
As ECO has matured, we have gained greater clarity about who we are and what we can offer. We have also discovered how much we have to learn from brothers and sisters serving Christ in other contexts. That has led to a question: What might become possible if evangelical and Reformed churches, denominations, and networks around the world had a place to build relationships and pursue mission together?
Brian Stewart, ECO’s Director of Global Engagement, has been helping bring that vision to life. As you read this, leaders from around the world are preparing for the first gathering of the Reformed Global Mission Network.Churches in every part of the world have wisdom to share and a role to play in God’s mission. Together, participants can learn from one another and explore long lasting partnerships in evangelism, disciple-making, leadership development, church planting, and church renewal.
We believe part of ECO’s mission in this season is to help support the creation and development of this network. We can contribute relationships, encouragement, and resources as it takes shape. But this is a global network, shaped by leaders and churches from many places. Our hope is to serve as a faithful partner in its development and to see it become something far broader than ECO.
I am excited about what this could mean for our churches. Relationships formed across cultures can deepen our understanding of the gospel, strengthen our congregations, and open doors for shared witness that none of us could pursue alone. We are entering this work with a desire to listen, learn, and contribute alongside others.
For this first gathering, we have intentionally kept ECO’s presence small. We want leaders from many places to have room to shape the network from the beginning. This is a starting point, and we expect there will be opportunities for more ECO pastors, churches, and leaders to participate as these relationships grow.
Please pray for Brian and for everyone gathering: that genuine friendships will form, that participants will listen well to one another, and that the Holy Spirit will guide the network toward fruitful shared mission. I look forward to telling you what we learn and how you can be part of what comes next.
In Christ,
Dana
