Helping Florence Flourish

Helping Florence Flourish is an exciting gospel city movement happening in Florence, South Carolina. HFF is modelled after many other movements around the country such as in Modesto, California, Lansing, Michigan and New York City.  (See Glenn Barth’s Good City for more info on Gospel City Movements).  As a GCM, we are working toward a visible demonstration of the unity of the body of Christ (John 17:21) to bless our community (Jeremiah 29:7).  We have been working on racial division, which is a critical issue in our community.

Recently, pastor and author, Dr. Tony Evans was with us and said, “How can we expect the White House to be fixed if the Church house is not fixed?”  Amen! We had about 3,000 people in attendance for the two nights of our time with him.  Sixty pastors attended a breakfast.  And at each event we had about 50% African Amercian and 50% Caucasian.  God is working among his people in special ways across denominational, racial and socio-economic lines here.  We are deeply thankful and are seeing some amazing things as we seek to work together!
